Wildfire Compliance & Defensible Space Guide
Everything San Diego property owners need to know about Cal Fire requirements, defensible space zones, and staying compliant year-round.
Why Compliance Matters
California law requires property owners in State Responsibility Areas (SRAs) to maintain defensible space around all structures. Failure to comply can result in fines, forced abatement, and — most critically — a home that cannot be defended during a wildfire.
San Diego County is one of the highest-risk fire regions in the nation. Our team works exclusively in this environment and knows exactly what Cal Fire inspectors look for.
The Two Defensible Space Zones
Cal Fire divides defensible space into two mandatory clearance zones around every structure.
